Matcha Mille Crêpe by Lady M is Insanely Good!

Lady M Matcha Mille Crêpe Thousand Layer Cake

Today's our lucky day we were able to purchase a box of Lady M Matcha Mille Crêpe cake in the bay area. Normally it is only available in New York and Los Angeles. The crepes are soft, the filling creamy, sweet but not overpowering. The matcha powder also speaks volumes: it's green, not too bitter, and very well sifted. Simply amazing and well worth the price. Highly recommend for any one who loves Matcha and layered cakes.

The Mille Crêpe comes in plain and frozen, the matcha powder has to be dusted on fresh. We also need to wait a bit before consuming it because it is cold. All these details are taken care of by the reseller of course.

Lady M's description : "Green Tea Mille Crêpes - 9 inches Fine green tea powder is infused into every element of our delicate Green Tea Mille Crêpes, a sight to behold with no less than twenty lacy thin crêpes enveloping the lightest pastry cream, vibrant green tea flavors gently humming in the background. Powdered matcha to top."

Mille crêpes is a French cake made of many crêpe layers. The word mille means "a thousand", implying the many layers of crêpe. (wikipedia). In Asia, this cake is especially popular. The Chinese call it Qian Ceng Bing, One Thousand Layer Cake, the Japanese call it ミルクレープ literally Mille Crepe.

At first, we were doubtful of the authenticity, but how well the crepes stay in form, the creamy green tea powder, how balanced the creaminess and sweetness of the filling, the dusting and the cut, all convinced us that this is exactly how Lady M should take like. Wonders.

Lady M probably used ceremonial grade matcha - the new hype. It means high quality matcha that would only be used in Japanese Tea Ceremonies.

Artisan, Premium Popsicles

I have been on a Yelp quest to discover premium artisan popsicles in San Francisco. I ran into lemongrass-kiwi-lime, masala chai, st.george's-single-malt and blue-bottle-coffee flavors. Yum and unique. My yelp review on The Pop Nation which is currently on the cart traveling in bay area fairs like the Maker Faire. It is somewhat elusive still.

The wonderful Bar Gelatos have rooted in their portable fridge in Franklin St. Whole Foods and California Academy of Science cafe. Go on a treasure hunt if you will.

The East Coast is few steps ahead of us with the leadership of People's Pops the same name book has also taken over the nation by storm.

People's Pops also helped the beauty magazine InStyle creating some interesting flavors for its Life, etc. section this month. How about Watermelon Lemongrass in lollipop shape? Classical bar pure fruit, Blueberry Lemonade, cubed Cucumber Tequila, and Apricot Lavender in... Cannele (french pastry) shape! InStyle named the creative flavors, provided recipes and instructions, even places to get the silicon mold - Amazon of course. The pinch of salt on the Cucumber Tequila is ingenious.Your links built below.

The Urban Guide to Artisan Drinks

San Francisco is experiencing a boom in artisan drinks: cocktails, home brewed kombucha, matcha green tea, coffee and more. Here are some unique cookbooks, recipes, and drink guide that we recommend.

Shrubs, herbs, rice (sake) and even absinthe, this book could belong to the Wicked witch. It teaches you how to brew artisan potions. If there's a drinking book in the Harry Potter world, this is probably one.

Don't be fooled by the earthy name of the book, it has full intention to teach you the science behind fermentation and distillation. It just took a green approach.

I don't know much about Sake but I surely love drinking this smooth and mildly sweet Japanese dew. It's just so smooth. Sake bottles can fetch hundreds of dollars and get expensive quickly. Take a closer look at Japanese culture, it's rarely just about the drink itself. Japanese like to go to Izayaka's, a Japanese food and bar hangout that serves savory tapas, rich and oily, and they go so well with the light and almost plain sake. Explore these two cook books, they both touch on soulful Japanese cooking. Use these recipes for bar food, create izakaya style tapas, and chimi.

This coffee book below come highly recommended by staff at Paper Source (a popular San Francisco stationery shop in rich neighbors >_<). Home of the Wrecking Ball, Blue Bottle Coffee, and Sightglass Coffee, San Francisco is the home of a coffee boom amidst a tech boom. This artisan coffee book walks you through the perfect brew and pour. If you are looking for a perfect coffee table book, then this coffee brewing guide with architectural print like illustration is the way to go.

What if you like drinking fancy beverages, with alcohol while staying classy? Wine is only miles away from San Francisco city in the redwood forest and sprinkled among the rolling hills of Napa Valley. Perhaps the most popular wine guide for laymen is the Oldman's guide. Quite a franchise now, its original book was so successful, that there are now two new books: New World wine, and how to drink like a Billionaire!

Prefer reading infographics rather than Mark Oldman's narratives and strange humor? This wine infographics book is for you. All you need to know about wine in infographics
